Katie Morrison appointed CEO at HireEducation

Mark Phillips Transitions to Chair of the Board

HireEducation announced that Katie Morrison has been appointed as the new CEO of the company as of January 1, 2023. With the company since 2014, Morrison has been instrumental in the growth and success of HireEducation and succeeds Mark Phillips, the company’s founder. Phillips will focus on organizing the company’s business development efforts, with a strong focus on building out new functional and market capabilities. He will remain active in the business as Chair of the Board.

Phillips reflects on this event with these thoughts: “One of my mentors always talks about replacing yourself in 2 years. Katie and I have been working hard since late 2019 to reimagine our company and, while I’m 1 year behind schedule, I am replacing myself with the absolute right person to take us to the next level. Katie has the passion, the industry expertise, the strategic insight, and the operational know-how to lead us to our collective goals. You’ve earned this, Katie, and we’re all so very proud of you and excited to work with you on this next phase of our growth!”

Morrison started at HireEducation as Mark’s executive assistant but quickly transitioned into running all operations for the small, growing company. In 2019, Phillips and Morrison began discussing moving the company from its Boulder, CO in-person location to a remote-first model. Together they pivoted the company and started building a national team with a clear focus on sustainability and culture. Morrison’s leadership in the areas of streamlining operations, creating a positive company culture, and driving a relationship-focused vision for the company has led to strong financial growth that will continue to lead the team forward.
